The best beaches on the island are to the south east. On the Black beach you will find restaurants, tavernas, beach bars, and organized stretches of beach with sun beds, umbrellas, and "sun bed-side" service. Besides the Black beach, one can also visit the Red and White beaches which are just south of Akrotiri.

If you prefer to stay close to Oia, you can combine a fantastic sea-food taverna meal with a dip into the sea at Amoudi bay with its smooth rocks from where you can dive into and swim in deep blue the sea next to a tiny chapel on a rock, all the time enjoying a stunning view of the villages which line the caldera cliffs above.
